Winter Woods is a division of Northern Sun Woodworks
located in Munising Michigan. We are tucked away in the forest just a
few miles
south of cold,
clear Lake Superior. Our shop manufactures premium staircases and architectural
millwork. Like you, we depend on figured wood for the projects we make.
Like most woodworkers we have been disappointed in the quality of wood
available. The best logs go to the export market where foreign buyers
pay as much as $30 a board foot. This leaves the domestic market starved
for
quality stock. We discovered the only way to find good quality material
is to track down lumber the export buyers miss. Over the years our
sources of supply have outgrown the capacity of our shop so hence Winter
Woods was born.
How does Winter Woods differ from other mail order lumber
services? For starters, I have been a full time woodworker since 1969.
We know wood and how it is used,
we talk the language, so to speak. Then we are a small company offering a
very personalized service, we hand pick every board and buy only the
best available
so we can send you the quality material your project deserves.
